Welcome! My name is Robert Hughes and this is my professional portfolio. I have created this portfolio to highlight the new changes my career is taking.
From 1992 to 2002, I worked as a Senior Test Engineer for Celestica. I worked in their power supply division. It was very exciting working on projects that were going to many different sites around the world. The birth of my premature son put a stop to that for a number of years as I became a stay at home dad.
Founding a non-profit to help kids and numerous community activities helped hone my project management skills.
From 2008 to 2021, I worked on file, web, and email servers for small companies. It was during this time that I discovered a fascination with how the databases were working across multiple systems. I moved back to electronics by becoming a technician for Collins Aerospace. As Paula Abdul said it best, "What have you done for me lately" was a realization in the job market that I needed some new skills.
I began the work of getting certified in Database management at Scottsdale Community College. With my years of working on websites for friends and organizations combined with my many years of programming using code, this was a good fit for my existing skills.
